Through the Noise - Original Mixed Media Portrait Painting
Through the Noise is an original mixed media portrait painting by Ben Goymour exploring focus, identity and the effort it can take to find clarity when everything around us feels loud.
The figure emerges from layers of broken colour, loose brushwork, drips and fragmented marks. Parts of the portrait are carefully resolved while others disappear into the surrounding surface, creating a tension between control and disruption.
Rather than separating the subject from the background, Ben allows the two to merge. The face pushes forward through the surrounding marks, giving the work a sense of someone holding onto themselves through distraction, pressure and visual noise.
Soft skin tones and intense blue eyes sit against areas of black, brown, pale blue and raw neutral colour, creating a quieter palette than many of Ben’s recent works while retaining the physicality of his mixed media process.
The hand painted frame forms part of the composition, allowing the marks and texture to continue beyond the central image.
