Marilyn Monroe Original Mixed Media Painting

Marilyn Monroe painting by Ben Goymour. This original mixed media work explores the contrast between Marilyn Monroe, the public icon, and Norma Jeane, the woman behind the image.

Ben brings both identities together within a single composition. The main figure is bold, colourful and immediately recognisable, while the second is quieter, more fragile and introspective. That contrast becomes the central idea of the work, looking at fame, vulnerability, identity and the distance between the person and the persona.

Layered text, expressive brushwork, drips, scratches and fragments of paint build a heavily worked surface. References to Marilyn Monroe and Norma Jeane are embedded throughout the piece, allowing the story to unfold gradually rather than being stated outright.

The hand painted frame forms part of the artwork itself, extending the colour, text and marks beyond the central image and turning the piece into a single complete composition.

This original Marilyn Monroe painting is a one off mixed media work by Ben Goymour.
