Oasis Original Mixed Media Painting
Oasis painting by Ben Goymour. This original mixed media work draws on the music, attitude and visual identity surrounding one of Britain’s most recognisable bands.
Built through layers of paint, expressive mark making, handwritten lyrics and graphic references, the work combines portraiture with fragments from the Oasis story. References to Rock ’N’ Roll Star, Wonderwall, Live Forever, Champagne Supernova, Definitely Maybe and other familiar words are worked directly into the surface rather than added as decoration.
The reflected crowd within the sunglasses brings the live experience into the portrait, connecting the figure with the scale and energy of Oasis at their height.
Ben allows the process to remain visible throughout, with drips, scratches, loose brushwork and painted text creating a heavily worked surface. The frame itself forms part of the composition, allowing the colour and marks to continue beyond the central image.
