Ben combines closely observed portraiture with loose mark making, painted text and a vivid palette of turquoise, blue, orange, pink and black. References to Rock Hard, Can the Can, 48 Crash and Suzi are worked into the surface, linking the portrait directly to the music and image associated with her career.
 
The painted surround forms part of the work, allowing colour and movement to continue beyond the central portrait and giving the piece a strong physical presence.
