Strength – Original Mixed Media Portrait Painting

Strength is an original mixed media portrait painting by Ben Goymour exploring identity, heritage, resilience and the idea that strength can be something inherited as much as something learned.

The figure is surrounded by words and phrases including Strength is my origin, I do not break, Truth Power Legacy and Know Your Roots. These are worked directly into the painted surface, reinforcing the connection between personal identity, ancestry and the experiences that shape us.

Built through layers of paint, expressive brushwork, drips, marks and text, the portrait moves between carefully observed detail and looser, instinctive passages. The hand painted frame forms part of the composition, allowing colour, texture and meaning to continue beyond the central image.
