Dolly Parton - Original Mixed Media Painting

Dolly Parton painting by Ben Goymour. This original mixed media work celebrates one of the most recognisable figures in music and popular culture through colour, texture and expressive mark making.

Ben builds the portrait through layers of paint, sweeping brushwork, splashes and heavily worked areas of texture. The face is carefully observed, while the surrounding hair, clothing and background become increasingly loose and instinctive, creating a contrast between detail and movement.

Soft skin tones and warm golds are set against turquoise, teal and flashes of blue, giving the painting a bright, energetic quality while retaining the physical surface and visible process that characterise Ben’s recent work.

The hand painted frame forms part of the composition itself, allowing the colour and marks to continue beyond the central image and making the work a single complete piece.
